As we welcome 2025, here at Houghton Regis Leisure and Community Centre our resolution remains the same. With completion due in the Spring significant progress has been made. Much of the external work is now finished, and the final touches on the hard and soft landscaping are underway. The installation of the external play equipment has commenced, and the poolsare undergoing the cleaning process in preparation for the eagerly anticipated pool fill. The changing village is taking shape with the installation of cubicles and lockers. The main reception desk is being fitted in the entrance lobby, and with the permanent lighting now operational, the building is truly coming together.
Community Engagement
We are proud to announce that our trainee quantity surveyor, Samuel Martin, who is participating in the CoTrain shared apprenticeship service, has been awarded Apprentice of the month. Additionally, he has been featured on the University of Westminster’s website.
Upcoming Work
There is much to accomplish in the coming months, and the anticipation is palpable as we prepare for the pool fill. With the flooring and carpentry works nearing completion, the final decoration phase will soon commence. Our mechanical and electrical contractors will continue testing and commissioning the building services to ensure everything is in perfect working order. Upon completion of the testing and commissioning, ceiling tiles will be installed to finalise the areas. We will also welcome a cleaning contractor to ensure the building sparkles and shines, followed by a sealant contractor who will attend to the finer details, providing the finishing touches. By next month, we also expect the landscaping works and all play areas to be completed.
