Site Activities

Since November 2025, we have delivered an intensive early works programme to enable the main construction phase. Key activities have included the relocation of four electric vehicle charging points, construction of a new retaining wall, and multiple drainage, water, and electrical service diversions.

In addition, we installed 136 steel sheet piles to support our large excavation ranging from 6m to 9.5m in length, utilising a silent pressing technique to minimise noise and vibration impacts within the live hospital environment.

As of mid-April, the project has progressed into the main works phase, with reduced level excavation underway and foundation works now commencing.

Community engagement

Activity Book Donation

In April, our project team donated 100 activity books to children’s wards at St Richard’s Hospital, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to the local community and the strong relationships developed throughout the project. The books were professionally designed and printed by Hobs Reprographics.

Chichester College Site Visit

We welcomed nine first-year students from Chichester College, currently studying a rotational multi-skills course, for an interactive site visit. The students engaged with our supply chain partner, Paine Manwaring Ltd, and were given a comprehensive tour of the project.

As part of the visit, students were set a practical challenge to plan a concrete pour, considering material selection, methodology, and logistics. This was followed by a live pour on site, where the team explained real-time decision-making and best practice.

Work Experience Programme

Two students from the visit also undertook work experience placements, completing rotations across key Morgan Sindall teams including commercial, design, and health & safety. This provided valuable insight into project delivery and exposure to critical activities on site.

It was a pleasure to host the students and support their development into the construction industry. For future work experience opportunities, students are encouraged to contact the project team via the main project page.
