We have a fantastic opportunity within our Construction business for an ambitious and talented Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will be joining the existing team of passionate and dedicated managers.

As an Operations Manager you will successfully manage 3 to 5 multidisciplinary projects and their associated activities from conception through to completion, delivering work that meets project requirements, customer satisfaction and in accordance with Morgan Sindall standards.

We are looking for people who share our passion for the project at hand whilst also being able to work within a fun and hardworking team environment.

We are currently working on large and exciting projects such as the following:


  • Develop and grow the northern area of Southern Home Counties.
  • Nurture and develop relationships with customers, both existing and new.
  • Support the business development and bid teams to convert leads to contract.
  • Lead, with full accountability and responsibility for PCSA, delivery and aftercare phases. Ensure that frameworks/projects/contracts are delivered in full compliance, from Pre construction through to completion, with health and safety, quality and environmental legislation as well as compliant with Morgan Sindall and customer procedures.
  • Monitor progress against the works programme and manage the impact of additional work and delays
  • Forecast and acquire resources. Ensure their effective and efficient deployment and subsequent recovery to satisfactory completion
  • Create team spirit and develop the project delivery team to create a high-performing team
  • Achieve profitable business results through adding value within the integrated team
  • Undertake an ambassadorial role representing the business to customers, public and official bodies,
  • Ensure the award of additional work based on excellent performance
  • Deliver the customers outputs achieving the predetermined key performance measures and aligning this with the achievement of perfect delivery on all of our projects
  • Produce customer and internal monthly progress reports
  • Maintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quo
  • Establish effective people management and performance processes to ensure a high performing and dynamic team
  • Manage the efficient deployment of human resources and communicate at company level
  • Manage the programme of works to maximise efficient and effective use of all resources, including designers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Staff development
  • Develop systems and procedures to embed, capture and cascade best practice
  • Implement business improvement processes that encourage challenge and promote innovation
  • Drive and motivate the whole team to achieve the efficiency challenge required by the customer
  • Promote a can do mentality, accepting future challenges – looking to the future and a new way of working
  • Focus on improving customer perception
  • Delivery of Morgan Sindall 100% Safe targets
  • Ensure programme delivery
  • Challenge design and construction methods to ensure the safest most cost effective methods are used
  • Input into trend analysis – defects, and client performance and quality audits
  • Produce and present monthly Business Review Meeting report
  • Input into Balanced Score Card
  • Undertake team briefings on various topics as and when required
  • Attend monthly Morgan Sindall business reviews
  • Work with Morgan Sindall procurement team to ensure the most cost-effective materials and methods are being utilised
  • Undertake customer feedback surveys with client
  • Embed and execute Perfect Delivery ethos
  • Demonstrate the right behaviours and lead the team to ensure the culture is in line with our company values


  • Degree educated (or equivalent) preferably in a Construction/ engineering subject
  • Ideally Chartered status, CIOB.
  • Significant framework management experience
  • Empathy and awareness of the issues and processes required by the customer
  • Knowledge of all aspects of legislative compliance, including employment law, health and safety, and environment
  • Awareness of future workload and commercial drivers
