SHE Manager - Fire Safety (National Role)
Location: UK role
Project Based/Office Based, with flexibility for occasional remote working.
We are looking for an experienced and talented SHE Manager with specific experience in Fire Safety to support in the development and implementation of safety, health and environment (SHE) best practice, ensuring Morgan Sindall and those working with us comply with current health and safety and environment legislation, industry and Morgan Sindall standards and approved codes of practice. This position is a national role, with flexibility for occasional/ remote working.

About the role:
You will be working within our national business, where you will:
Develop and implement fire safety requirements and best practice, ensuring Morgan Sindall and those working with us comply with current health and safety, environment and specifically fire legislation and guidance. Develop and promote industry and Morgan Sindall standards in relation to fire safety and general SHE Improvements.
Work proactively with managers to establish and maintain safe systems of work and a safe environment for colleagues and customers
Lead, provide advice to, and support management teams, Regional SHE Teams, champions, coaches, employees and those working with us in regards to action and improvement plans and measures for creating a safe working environment in pursuit of achieving our 100% Safe goal and Perfect Delivery
Communicate effectively and regularly with other SHE staff, directors and their teams
Monitor the competencies of all staff and provide advice on any shortfalls relating to all aspects of fire safety
Ensure training provided by external training organisations is competent and delivered effectively to meet our objectives
Oversee the continuous improvement of fire safety throughout the UK construction business
Maintain all relevant processes and standards in line with industry expectations, and develop new systems and process as and when necessary to improve operational efficiency.
Undertake fire safety audits of projects across the UK when relevant.
Report back significant findings to SHE Director, UK SHE Manager and Regional SHE Managers
Conduct fire risk assessments within the ability and skill set of the fire safety manager and request specialist advice and guidance as required.
Support Fire risk assessors & SHE Advisors operating within their respective regions
Act as the main point of contact for external fire risk assessing companies and ensure they meet the expectations of Morgan Sindall and its projects
Assist in the investigation of significant fire related incidents.
What are we looking for?
General NEBOSH Certificate
NEBOSH diploma (desirable)
Appropriate CSCS card
Relevant experience of the construction industry and fire safety technology within the industry. Examples such as DSEAR, fire alarms systems & temporary solutions.
Has a clear understanding of the Fire Safety Order, JCoP, HSG 168, and an awareness of Approved Document B (building control) and other guidance which shall be used during construction
Has an awareness of the Building Safety Act and the different gateways for high-risk buildings
Hold a minimum of MIFSM or MIFireE or be working towards these
Maintain and record at least 25 hours of relevant CPD per annum
Hold a construction fire risk assessment qualification or Diploma in Construction Fire Safety or be prepared to undertake and be successful in achieving a pass for one or both of the above courses.
Knowledge and experience of conducting or reviewing FRA’s
NEBOSH Fire Prevention and Risk Management Certificate
General Management qualification (desirable)
CMIOSH or NVQ level 4 (desirable)
Extensive knowledge of effective management strategies and best practice
