Construction in full swing on Cornwall Council’s innovative new hub

Morgan Sindall Construction has marked a transformative change for Cornwall Council as work for Liskeard Hub is underway – a new centre for multiple council departments.

Located on the original Liskeard Cattle Market site, the project is set to unite multiple council services into one integrated hub – including the Family Hub, Registrars, Adult Education, Safe and Wellbeing, and the Department of Work and Pensions.

Procured through Southern Construction Framework (SCF), the hub is scheduled to be completed in spring 2026, with Morgan Sindall overseeing all aspects of the technical planning and construction to ensure the successful delivery of facilities.

This cutting-edge facility is designed as two and three-storey blocks, large enough to cater to Cornwall’s ever-changing needs.

Consistent with Morgan Sindall’s commitment to sustainable construction, the hub is being constructed to meet CarbonLite standards, reducing embodied carbon in the build and boosting energy efficiency.

The building, split into two connected structures, is designed to radiate a timeless feel, with stonework around the base of the structure, sloping features, and large windows that flood the space with light.

By working with consultants and incorporating intelligent solutions into the design phase, plans include highly innovative features, creating a stable, supportive base through pad foundations with strip footings, while combining the strength of steel with the durability of metal decking for the frame. Morgan Sindall is also constructing in-situ upper floors, delivering a more robust, tailored finish to Liskeard Hub.
