Extension underway at Bilston Primary School

News |

Morgan Sindall Construction Scotland has begun work on a new four-classroom extension at Bilston Primary School, marking an important investment in educational facilities for the area’s growing community.

Designed with sustainability and modern teaching approaches at its core, the new extension will provide flexible, high-quality learning spaces to support Bilston Primary School’s expanding roll and evolving curriculum needs.

The 26-week construction programme, procured via the SCAPE Framework, has been carefully planned to ensure the new classrooms are ready for the start of the 2026/27 school year, while minimising disruption to pupils, staff and the wider school community.

To mark the start of the project, four pupils joined Councillor Ellen Scott, Cabinet Member for Education, and Head Teacher Sheryl Wallace to meet the project team and learn more about the plans for their new learning environment.

The extension forms part of Midlothian Council’s wider commitment to delivering high-quality, future-proofed school facilities that support sustainable growth across the region.
