Morgan Sindall completes two new schools and two school extensions in ongoing programme for Hampshire County Council

News |

Morgan Sindall Construction has recently delivered the Hampshire County Council designed Newlands Primary Academy, Stanhope Primary Schools, 90 place and 120 place extension to Bordon Infants and Juniors Schools, together with a 300-place extension to the Oakmoor Secondary School.

Working in partnership with HCC Children's Services and Property Services teams who led the design and delivery of the proposals, four out of five significant projects, procured through the Southern Construction Framework (SCF), have been completed by Morgan Sindall.

These include the £9.3 million construction of Newlands Primary Academy in Berewood (Waterlooville), the £10 million Stanhope Primary School in Wellesley (Aldershot), the £7.4 million extension of Oakmoor School in Bordon and the £5.5m refurbishment and extensions for Bordon Infants and Junior Schools.

These projects are part of HCC Children’s Services wider capital programme and demonstrates HCC's commitment to investing in the future of education across Hampshire ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective facilities that meet the evolving needs of local communities.

Both Newlands Primary Academy and Stanhope Primary School feature off site, timber-framed panelised construction which offers environmental benefits alongside practical advantages such as rapid build time, superior insulation, and cost-effectiveness. This environmentally conscious approach aligns with both organisations' commitment to sustainability and responsible resource management.

Newlands Primary Academy in Berewood, West of Waterlooville was completed in August 2025 and has recently welcomed the first Year Reception pupils. The school will grow year-by-year to its full capacity of 315 places.

Similarly, Stanhope Primary School in Wellesley was handed over in August 2025. The two-form entry school is slightly larger at 2,021m² and will provide 420 spaces in total.

At Oakmoor School in Bordon, the extension to the existing secondary school has increased capacity by 300 pupils, adding 1,650 m² to the northern teaching block over two storeys. The extension includes 16 new classrooms, additional staff facilities, together with the refurbishment of six existing classrooms into specialist science and art rooms. Designed to match the original 2019 building, the new extension features sustainable elements including PV panels and heat recovery units for natural ventilation.

Morgan Sindall Construction has also achieved practical completion at Bordon Infants and Junior Schools. The refurbishment and extension project is enhancing facilities across the shared educational site. The project will provide new teaching spaces for 90 pupils at the Infants School, along with an ancillary office and kitchen areas and external classroom play areas. At the Junior School, an additional 120 pupils will benefit from a new multi-use games area (MUGA). Both schools also share improved mains services infrastructure and freshly expanded parking for 60 staff and visitors.

Clifford Kinch, Area Director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the South, said:

Working collaboratively with Hampshire County Council allows us to combine our expertise to create exceptional educational facilities that have a lasting positive impact on local communities.
The completion of these projects showcases our ability to deliver innovative, sustainable construction solutions that overcome complex challenges. We're particularly proud of the social value generated, with local pupils gaining hands-on experience and insight into the construction industry through regular site visits and engagement activities. Our partnership with Aldershot College has provided valuable opportunities for trainee bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing and electrical students to enhance their careers.
We very much look forward to pupils benefitting from the educational facilities this autumn, meeting the increasing demand for school spaces in Hampshire."
