Morgan Sindall Construction South’s first Community Quad in Aldershot
Morgan Sindall Construction South has established its first Community Quad at Karuna Coffee House in Aldershot, introducing an innovative approach to community engagement that brings together a wide range of local people and support groups.
Traditionally, Morgan Sindall Construction provides a dedicated site cabin to serve as a Knowledge or Community Quad when working within local communities. On this occasion, however, the South team partnered with established social enterprise Karuna Action, which has deep roots in the area.
Through this collaboration, they raised an initial sponsorship of £3,500 to support the initiative. The investment supports its rising operational costs, enabling them to continue offering their space rent-free to various community organisations leaving a lasting legacy for everyone who benefits.
The Community Quad fulfils Morgan Sindall Construction's commitment to establish community spaces on all projects valued at over £10 million procured through the Southern Construction Framework (SCF). Initially supporting their Stanhope Primary School project, the partnership will continue to benefit other developments including Alderwood Senior School, currently under construction until summer 2026, which will continue the sponsorship raising a further £3,500 to Karuna Action.
The Community Quad at Karuna Coffee House provides versatile meeting spaces across multiple floors. Morgan Sindall Construction South’s sponsored room is exclusively used by NHS Surrey and Borders Partnership offering a free counselling service for school children aged 11 upwards where appointments have increased to full-time usage.
Other rooms are used for adult counselling, teaching areas offering free maths and ESOL tuition, and community gathering spaces including pottery workshops and their catalyst project for nutrition and fitness coaches. The café’s community table is used weekly by Mind supporting mental health and wellbeing.
