It's time to cost plan the design!

Students from Turnbull High School and Bishopbriggs Academy are working with the Balmuildy Primary School project delivery partners to provide a new sensory garden at Auchinairn ELCC - from concept design through to completion.

Brown + Wallace led a cost planning session which provided an overview of what a Quantity Surveyor does and what their role is in a building project.

The team introduced the concept of a cost plan and how this is prepared and developed as the design progresses through to a detailed estimate on the full design.

Students took part in a practical cost-and-build task involving the construction of a lego house and costing an estimate based on the quantities of materials used. The students then presented their build and their cacluated costs allowing a discussion on the efficiences of their build.

Now into week 10 of the programme it's been great to see the students so engaged with the project delivery partners.
