James Paget University Hospital: Theatre 2 & 3

About the project

Theatre 2 and 3, is the new refurbished theatres, located in Great Yarmouth.

The project is reconstructing theatre 2 and 3 at James Paget University Hospital as part of a wider programme of RAAC remediation and theatre refurbishment works.

Project highlights:

Structural Safety Measures: Due to the deterioration of reinforced aerated concrete (RAAC), a comprehensive failsafe system has been designed and installed beneath the RAAC structure. This system incorporates both steelwork and timber to ensure maximum stability and safety.

Theatre 2: As a short-term solution, Theatre 2 will serve as a temporary operating theatre for emergency surgeries. This measure will help alleviate pressure on the existing theatres and maintain continuity of critical care.

Theatre 3: Theatre 3 will be equipped with a state-of-the-art surgical robot dedicated to procedures in the gynaecology and colorectal departments, enhancing precision and efficiency.

Modernisation: Both theatres will undergo a complete refurbishment, featuring cutting-edge technology and modern facilities to improve patient outcomes and operational performance.

Enhanced Safety and Compliance: All works have been carried out in strict accordance with current health and safety regulations and NHS standards, ensuring a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors throughout the refurbishment process.
