Newsletter (September 2025)
Welcome to our newsletter for Middlecross Extra Care Scheme, located on Simpson Grove in Armley. The scheme is being delivered by Morgan Sindall Construction in partnership with Leeds City Council.
The development will provide 65 apartments, comprising of 52 one bed and 13 two bed along with communal facilities for residents including a café, activity room and hairdressers. The scheme is planned for completion in spring 2027. Community engagement
We are prioritising the use of local businesses for materials, skills and labour, with Leeds residents currently making up over 70% of our site workforce. Our team has been supporting local high schools with careers events and work experience, and we are working with Leeds College of Building to host industry placements for local construction students.
Construction works
Since our last newsletter we have been busy onsite having completed all of our ground works which now means we can remove all of the noisy machinery from site and push on with building the superstructure.
You may have seen when passing the site, our tower crane and two lift cores that have been installed, as well as a portion of the ground floor which has now been built. We will spend the next couple of months continuing to complete the ground floor before moving onto building the first floor. We plan to have the entire superstructure complete for March 2026.
External Works
We have been working in the local area installing new pedestrian crossings in several locations to create easier access for local residents to cross roads and junctions. We are aware of some visible wear and tear on the roads as a result of our works. These areas will be repaired at the end of the project where we aim to leave the local area in the same condition as when we arrived, if not improved.
Considerate Constructors Scheme
We are registered with the considerate Constructors Scheme and following the first inspection we have achieved "Excellent" standard with a score of 44 out of a possible 45.
