Newsletter (March 2026)

Welcome to our newsletter for Middlecross Extra Care Scheme, located on Simpson Grove in Armley. The scheme is being delivered by Morgan Sindall Construction in partnership with Leeds City Council. The development will provide 65 apartments, comprising 52 one-bed and 13 two-bed, along with communal facilities, including a café, activity room and hairdressers. The scheme is planned for completion early 2027.

Construction works

The wet start to the new year caused difficulties with progress but the Morgan Sindall team have pushed on to install the roof structure on half of the building, with the second half planned for installation at the end of March.

Internally, we have been working away to progress our initial fit out works, including mechanical and electrical containment and pipe work systems. The main fit out works to the apartments will commence in late March, along with internal dry lining and MEP installations.

Considerate Construction Scheme

In January we had our second inspection from industry regulating body, the Considerate Contractors Scheme, and achieved “Excellent” Status.

Community engagement

As part of our work to support local people into jobs and skills training, Morgan Sindall have been hosting site neighbour, Zubair Siddique, on a work experience placement in quantity surveying.

Zubair is an accounting and finance graduate and will now progress to working with other Morgan Sindall teams in Leeds to increase his site experience.

We would also like to congratulate Leeds College of Building T-level student, Riley Steele, for completing his 45-day placement on the site. After his exams Riley will rejoin Morgan Sindall to develop his operational experience.

In addition, we have partnered with Leeds City Council and Talented Training to offer a free CSCS course for unemployed people wanting to join the construction industry. After gaining the CSCS card and completing site-based work experience, candidates register with our labour team for paid work.

Talk to the builder…

At Morgan Sindall we pride ourselves on doing our upmost to lessen the impact of our works on the community and leave a positive impact. If you feel there is a reason to raise a concern, please don’t hesitate to contact us using the details on this page.
