Project overview
MKUH’s new Imaging Centre is replacing the outdated single-storey MRI scanner building, providing Milton Keynes with a cutting-edge medical facility.
Construction is taking place in an active hospital setting on a logistically tight site footprint, ensuring safe pedestrian and public movement at all times.
We commenced on site in August 2024, beginning demolition of the existing building in October, and are due to handover the newly completed 2-storey building in March 2026.
Site Activities
June marked significant progress across multiple areas of the Imaging project.
We completed the SFS and boarding works to Levels 1 and 2, and successfully installed all windows.
Brickwork was completed on both the north and south elevations, and cladding commenced on the south elevation straight behind.
The steel frame for the roof plant room was also completed, and we took delivery of the air handling units (AHUs) in preparation for installation.
Internally, screeding works to Levels 1 and 2 were completed, providing a solid foundation for the commencement of partitioning works, which have now begun on Level 2, with containment installation happening in tandem.
Upcoming work
We will be progressing with SFS installation on Level 3 around the roof plant room, and applying the vapour barrier to the flat roofs.
Cladding install will continue on the remaining elevations.
Internally, first fix partitions and MEP will continue throughout, moving to the fit-out of Level 1, and firestopping works will commence.
