Project overview
MKUH’s new Imaging Centre is replacing the outdated single-storey MRI scanner building, providing Milton Keynes with a cutting-edge medical facility.
Construction is taking place in an active hospital setting on a logistically tight site footprint, ensuring safe pedestrian and public movement at all times.
We commenced on site in August 2024, beginning demolition of the existing building in October, and are due to handover the newly completed 2-storey building in March 2026.
Site Activities
The steel framing framing (SFS) is now complete on levels 1 and 2, and external boarding is about 50% complete.
Blockwork on both the roof and ground floor has been successfully completed.
Ductwork has commenced with dampers through the slabs installed and protected.
All propping has been struck, and insulation is being laid in the roof plant room, ready for the concrete topping.
Upcoming work
Works will ramp up even more in June, with the commencement of several new trades. This week we will begin installing windows and doors on the ground floor, with external brickwork commencing next week.
Internally, screed will be commencing on the floor slabs in early June, with partitions following behind. Mid-June will see the commencement of cladding install, and the erection of the steel frame to the plant room roof.
