233 tonnes of carbon saved!
The NNUH CDC project team recently took part in Morgan Sindall Construction's in-house developed initiative - the 10 Tonne Challenge. The challenge empowers our project teams for a focused week, to work with our consultants and supply chain to find intelligent solutions that reduce carbon from the buildings we deliver by a minimum of 10 tonnes.
How the team achieved the challenge:
- Agreement with our steelwork subcontractor for the cost-neutral incorporation of the Arcelor Mittal X-Carb for 60t of the primary steel frame on the scheme.
- Agreement to maximise the use of standard EAF steel for the remaining 100t of the primary steel frame (circa 70% EAF).
Well done to the whole team! We look forward to seeing what more savings can be made as the project progresses.
