Potential New Apprentices?

It's National Apprenticeship Week and what better way to showcase opportunities to young students than with a practical session led by ARB Mechanical Engineering Ltd.

These sessions make jobs real for young people - "you don't know what you can't see".

ARB gave a short presentation on the types of work they do before introducing them to crimping and arc welding. Definitely not your average school session!

As a direct result, two of the students are now considering welding as a career and just goes to show how powerful these sessions can be to light a spark.

Jay Kirby, Contracts Director said: "Thanks for inviting us back, we really enjoyed the afternoon. We appreciated the warm welcome and the level of engagement throughout the session. It was a pleasure interacting with the students who asked thoughtful questions and showed genuine interest.

We hope the demonstrations were useful and complement their learning objectives. We would be happy to support future activities if the opportunity arises."

It seems that these sessions, supported by our supply chain, are starting to be seen and talked about amongst other local schools so it was good to hear that one of the Assistant Heads from another Southampton school visited to witness the enthusiasm and success for themselves.
