Digital Construction Manager (Northern Home Counties Business)

Location: Welwyn Garden City
Office Based, with flexibility for occasional remote working

We are looking for an experienced and talented Digital Construction Manager to assist the Senior Digital Construction Manager with day-to-day digital delivery and information management activities across multiple projects, within the Northern Home Counties Business. This position is office based, with occasional site visits and flexibility for occasional remote working.

About the role:

You will be working within our Construction London & Home Counties business, where you will:

In Bid preparation:

  • Appraise clients EIRs
  • provide input into the BIM strategy meetings for each bid
  • prepare pre-appointment information management documents and assess the capability of the delivery teams.
  • help in bid writing on the subject of BIM and collaboration to ensure we are delivering the client requirements aligned with the supply chains capabilities.

In design development:

  • oversee the delivery team’s production of information and audit digital delivery.
  • train and support the delivery teams, where necessary, to ensure information delivery in accordance with client requirements and Morgan Sindall standards.

In operations:

  • work on multidisciplinary construction projects or medium sized sites and their associated digital activities
  • help deliver work that meets project requirements, customer satisfaction and in accordance with Morgan Sindall standards.
  • Play a part in ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental Policies are delivered.

Generally:

  • Help communicate the BIM Implementation Strategy throughout the region
  • Support the communication of new updates, progression and future planning.
  • Help record and track the BIM requirements alongside the Senior Digital Construction Manager.
  • Support the Senior Digital Construction Manager with the on-going development.
  • Help undertake research and trials of software, technology and initiatives to drive efficiency, reduce risk and costs.
  • Participate in BIM related meetings and may be required to lead such meetings from time to time.
  • You will produce the appointment stage BIM resources and support the delivery team in its implementation, in accordance with the mobilization Plan, for approval by the Senior Digital Construction Manager.
  • Feed back to the Senior Digital Construction Manager on progress of each of the projects to ensure that all of the commitments are being followed through by the project team and to help assist the team with resolving any information management and digital delivery related challenges.
  • You will participate in digital delivery and information management audits, including compliance with all the project’s BIM resources including the geometrical and alphanumerical level of information need.
  • Produce and review quality assurance reports with the Senior Digital Construction Manager at each information exchange to ensure all the project BIM deliverables are being met
  • Help monitor live projects and bids with BIM commitments and feed back to the Senior Digital Construction Manager.
  • Help record savings, benefits, lessons learned and KPI’s.
  • Help undertake supply chain competency assessments and issue to the Senior Digital Construction Manager for review.

Ideally you will have:

  • the ability to understand clients EIRs and identify opportunities for Morgan Sindall to add value.
  • the ability to carry out software driven alphanumerical information (COBie data, classification, etc…) compliance and completeness audits and report the findings to the Senior Digital Construction Manager.
  • the ability to carry out software driven geometrical information (clash detection and as-built verification processes) compliance and completeness audits and report the findings to the Senior Digital Construction Manager.
  • The ability and willingness to work closely with all team members to ensure that our BIM strategy is continuously improved and delivering efficiencies.

What are we looking for?

  • As an experienced Digital Construction Manager, you will have a good understanding of construction techniques, educated in a relevant field for example BIM, Architectural Technology, construction.
  • Solid working knowledge of BIM standards and best practice.
  • Previous construction experience or reasonable knowledge of the construction process.
  • Basic knowledge of different needs of the delivery team (architects, engineers, estimators, planners and subcontractors).
  • Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills.
  • Understanding the concept of Common Data Environment in line with the ISO 19650 suite of standards.
  • Sound understanding of Digital Models and the geometrical and alphanumerical contents.
  • Full understanding of what COBie data is and it should be delivered to our clients.
  • Technical knowledge of the BIM applications e.g. Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk BIM 360/ Autodesk Construction Cloud, Solibri Office or similar.
  • Open to learning new software and processes.
  • Proficient (ideally advanced) skills using Microsoft Office
