Would you like to work for a progressive and ambitious company which is intent on improving social, economic and environmental wellbeing in the communities where we work?
About the Role
We are looking for a purpose-driven manager who thrives on making tools and processes easy to use and understand. Focused on long-term positive outcomes for the construction sector in the UK, ultimately the role is measured on the positive impact to people and nature, and how this can be translated to value for our customers.
The Senior Sustainability Manager will focus primarily on the environmental aspect of sustainability for our national Construction business (England, Scotland and Wales), and will act as a deputy for the head of function, supporting the business to achieve ambitious environmental performance targets.
As part of a dynamic cross-business team, the Senior Sustainability Manager will support others in achieving their own objectives towards a common goal of responsibly delivering better buildings for our customers and thereby creating inspiring places that enhance the communities in which we all live, learn, work, play, care and protect.
The social impact of climate action will be considered by them as part of their work, including the critical role that people have in making change happen. The individual will also assist with all relevant business activities that support our class-leading sustainability reputation.
About You
To achieve these targets, you, as part of a team, will drive the implementation of novel and transformative plans to improve resource efficiency, replenish nature and mitigate climate change throughout the construction value chain, including for our own operations. Although taking strategic direction from the head of function, you will be willing to work and make day-to-day decisions in isolation. Highly self-motivated, applying your own creative thought to new ideas and to the implementation of existing ideas, you will be a true doer, seeing projects through to a successful completion, carrying out the work themselves if necessary to get things done. This role requires extensive proven experience.
The role is agile and will involve in-person meetings and site visits. A willingness to travel is essential.
Benefits
We strive to support our colleagues to achieve a healthy work-life balance. We understand that many of our people have family and personal responsibilities and so we are committed to providing that support. Here are just some of the benefits you can expect: Pension Scheme matched up to 6%; 26 days holiday plus bank holidays and rising to 30 days after 8 years’ service and the holiday plus scheme; Private Healthcare Cover; Life Assurance up to 4 times your basic salary; Recognition for professional qualification/membership achieved up to £1000; Mental Wellbeing and Employee Supports; People Portal for high street discounts; Long Service Awards; Sharesave Plan; Incentive Scheme; Enhanced Family leave and more!
