Start your transition from the Armed Forces to a rewarding career with us

The combination of a military mindset, with values such as commitment, discipline, courage, respect and integrity at its core, are all fundamental to the success of a construction project and business and very much align to our own vision, purpose and values.

Morgan Sindall Construction has a long history of supporting service families, both during their time in service and during their reintegration into civilian life. Many of our employees, their families and our supply chain members have had a service career and we recognise that those transitioning from the military to resettlement have an impressive wealth of transferable skills and knowledge, perfectly suited for a career in the construction industry.

Our service leavers deploy their experience in governance and leadership when it comes to problem solving and communicating with a range of business and community stakeholders. Their exceptional planning and programming skills are utilised when it comes to time, resource, and people management of a project. Finally, a commitment to risk management and quality – getting the job done on time and delivered safely, might well be known as End Exercise (End Ex) during a military career, but for us, we call it Perfect Delivery.

Supporting our employees who are part of military families

If you are a Morgan Sindall Construction employee, whether you are a service leaver yourself or you are the partner or spouse of someone who is serving in the Armed Forces, like all our employees you will receive competitive benefits to support your home life. Such as enhanced maternity, paternity, shared parental, and adoption leave, as well as a range of policies that support those important life moments – emergency leave, bereavement, carers responsibilities, illness, menopause and retirement.

Our Wellbeing Toolkit is focused around three key factors – Financial, Psychological and Physical, as a result our employees are able to access a range of discount portals, services to support their wellbeing and a 24/7 employee assistance hotline.

We don’t believe one size fits all when it comes to flexible and agile working and so encourage these open conversations between our employees and their line managers to find a solution that suits people and business.

From the Para’s to Project Management

We spoke to Daniel Sherlock, assistant site manager in Norwich about his experience of joining Morgan Sindall Construction, via a BuildForce placement.

Daniel spent eight years in the construction industry before following a lifelong dream of serving in the Armed Forces. During his resettlement he started to look for a new role that would give his family stability as well as enable him to play an active part in their day to day life. Five years on, Daniel is still in the business and working on an exciting and unusual project - Norwich Castle!

Project Recce Programme

Project Recce offers a pathway for UK veterans to pursue careers in the construction industry. In partnership with The Royal Foundation and The Armed Forces Covenant Fund. Our North West team hosted a four-week employment programme at our Paddington Village site in Liverpool, benefiting nine veterans.

Week one focused on addressing the common mental health issues that veterans may experience. The second week concentrated on employability skills, covering the basics of interviewing, networking, and CV writing. In the third week, the cohort learned about health and safety, and earned a CSCS card which enables them to work onsite in the UK. Finally, the fourth week consisted of a week-long work experience opportunity on Morgan Sindall Construction sites in the area and working with our site teams and networking with our supply chain partners.
