We are proud to have been selected to be part of the UK Government’s £37bn New Hospital Programme (NHP) a landmark initiative delivering40 new hospitals across England by 2040.

The London & Home Counties region are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead to successful delivery for our allocated £250m project withMilton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust within the Government’sNew Hospital Programme (NHP).

This is a rare opportunity to take a strategic leadership role within one of the UK’s most significant public sector programmes.

The Role

As Operations Director, you will provide overall leadership and direction across the project, working within a collaborative alliance model alongside the NHS, partners, and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Area Director, you will be accountable for operational performance, ensuring projects are fully resourced, effectively managed, and successfully delivered against safety, cost, quality, and programme targets, while embedding Morgan Sindall’s Perfect Delivery philosophy.

You will play a key role in shaping delivery strategy, managing risk, and strengthening client relationships across a complex and high-profile programme environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the delivery of the NHP project
  • Ensuring the project is delivered to agreed scope, cost, programme, and quality targets
  • Providing clear leadership, direction, and motivation to project teams and supply chain partners
  • Driving excellence across health, safety, environment, sustainability, and quality performance
  • Managing and challenging project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance
  • Deploying appropriate resources to ensure successful project delivery
  • Acting as a key interface with the client, NHS stakeholders, and alliance partners
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships through proactive engagement
  • Implementing effective governance, risk management, and performance control processes
  • Driving continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice to the project and influencing the wider NHP alliance where appropriate.
  • Developing a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, and leadership.

About You

You are a proven operational leader with extensive experience delivering large, complex construction projects, ideally within healthcare or major infrastructure environments.

You’ll bring:

  • A strong track record of leading project delivery at a senior level
  • Experience within healthcare on complex new built schemes
  • A collaborative, customer-focused leadership style suited to alliance delivery models
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management capability
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • The ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams
  • A construction-related degree or equivalent experience
  • Chartered status and formal safety training (desirable)
