Morgan Sindall Construction boosts Brighton charities with £5,000 donation

News |

Morgan Sindall Construction’s Southern Home Counties team has donated £5,000 to two local charities to mark the early completion of a major project in Brighton.

The project team delivered 30 new homes as part of an affordable housing development for Brighton & City Council at Selsfield Drive, Moulsecoomb, five weeks ahead of schedule.

The development of one and two bedroom flats, two of which are fully wheelchair accessible, was delivered for Brighton & Hove City Council as part of plans to build 64 new council homes by the end of 2020, and a wider four year plan to provide 800 new accommodation units within the city.

The development looks to provide people living locally with first-class affordable housing, with modern, well-planned living spaces set within an attractive location with green space and protected trees.

Following the successful handover, the project team decided to donate £2,500 to Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT), a charity which provides cultural engagement and educational outreach for their local community, and £2,500 to Clock Tower Sanctuary (CTS), a drop-in day centre for homeless 16-to-25 year olds.

BOAT plays a valuable role in the cultural life of the city and is committed to advancing cultural experiences for residents and visitors. Despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, the theatre provided first-class entertainment for over 19,000 people, including a first-ever Christmas production last season.

Clock Tower Sanctuary (CTS), which had 4,008 visits from homeless young people just last year alone, provides crisis support, trust-building sessions and much more to Brighton’s most vulnerable young people and adults. The donation to CTS will help provide essential running costs, keeping the day centre open to those who need it most.

Guy Hannell, Morgan Sindall Construction’s Southern Home Counties area director, said: “Morgan Sindall Construction is committed to ensuring we leave a positive lasting legacy in our communities that goes beyond bricks and mortar. It’s an honour to give back to these amazing local organisations that play such an important role in enriching the lives of people living in Brighton, and helping our communities to thrive. We look forward to seeing BOAT and CTS continuing to go from strength to strength and hope to continue this positive association with both organisations.”
