A new hospital A&E wing, which was delivered by Morgan Sindall Construction, has been named Best Public Service Building at the South West regional Local Authority Building Control (LABC) awards.

The award recognised the outstanding construction and workmanship in the delivery of the refurbished and extended accident and emergency wing of North Devon District Hospital, which was delivered in August 2018.

The wider project team included David Wilson Partnership Ltd, Gates Construction Consultants, David Bearman Chartered Structural Engineer and Pivotal Design & Consultancy Ltd.

Nigel Whelan, area director at Morgan Sindall Construction, said: “We are delighted to have played a part in the delivery of this key project for the North Devon Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a brilliant facility which will help to save lives and we are so proud to have been part of the innovative project team which constructed and refurbished the new A&E wing.”

Morgan Sindall Construction has delivered a number of projects for the Trust, including a new specialist chemotherapy wing, which was constructed in 2015.

The scheme will now go through to the national awards, which will be held in November.
