Morgan Sindall Construction and stakeholders at a topping out event

Topping out celebrated at Surrey school expansion

News |

Major works to expand St Bede’s School in Redhill, Surrey and create hundreds of new student places have reached an important construction milestone.

Morgan Sindall Construction was joined in a traditional topping out ceremony to celebrate the completion of the extension’s main structure by the team of St Bede’s School, including Headmaster Mr Stephen Crabtree, as well as the customer team from Surrey County Council and the consultant team from Jacobs. The ceremony was held on the roof of one of the new buildings and guests were given an exclusive tour of the site.

The project, which is scheduled for completion in early 2019, will also improve St Bede’s existing music facilities and will create additional music practice rooms together with a recital room.

Russell Chatfield, area manager at Morgan Sindall Construction said: “Reaching the topping out phase is a major milestone in the expansion of St Bede’s - it’s great to see the building taking shape and to have completed the external structure and we are delighted with how the project is progressing.
“We look forward to continuing our close work with Surrey County Council to enhance the existing facilities and create an outstanding learning environment for pupils and teachers in the Redhill community for generations to come.”
