Scope

We've been able to provide CAPA College with a state-of-the-art building, enhancing students learning experience for production and digital media. CAPA College’s new flagship home will become the gateway to Wakefield, inspiring and educating the next generation of performers and creatives in Wakefield and beyond. The multi-million-pound facility will house a 150-seat theatre, 10 recording studios, dance studios, drama workshops, a multimedia tech suite and an outdoor amphitheatre. The facility will also incorporate a public café with outdoor terrace, along with social learning and break out areas, lecture theatres and classrooms. The development enables the college to provide young people across the North of England with the opportunity to access the highest quality learning experience in an inspiring and professional environment.

Our Approach

Located next door to our office in Wakefield, the project completed summer 2022, with the build process setting numerous initiatives ran by ourselves and CAPA College to nurture local talent and create new job roles in the area. Whilst our aim was to deliver a flagship project for Wakefield, we also wanted to ensure we maximised the social value we could generate.

National Apprenticeship Week

During National Apprenticeship Week, we attended Leeds Apprentice Recruitment Festival to promote construction careers and apprenticeship opportunities that we can offer, as well as completing a number of apprentice talks in local schools within Wakefield.

CAPA Site Visits

We hosted a number of site visits for young people from Wakefield College, Minsthorpe Community College, Camphill College and the University of Huddersfield. Here, Project Manager Ben Steel, was able to give the students a tour of the site which offered an insight into some of the rewarding opportunities available within the construction industry.

Donations to Local Businesses

Thanks to the site team and supply chain partners Lee Hill and Direct Interior Solutions, Sandal Library in Wakefield now has a dedicated space to keep customer prams and mobility scooters dry and secure.

We would like to thank you for the buggy park. We are all extremely pleased with the finished result, it will be a great addition to the library garden. Thanks for all your help and they did a great job and left everything neat and tidy.” – Sandals Library

We were also able to donate Christmas Presents to local community centre for elderly people within Wakefield Community.

We would like to thank Morgan Sindall from the bottom of our hearts for the amazing donations for our clients. We are so grateful for companies like yours who think of elderly people within our community. This donation will make their Christmas Celebration even more special.” – St Catherine’s Church Centre

Community Engagement

Our team had regular team litter picks and took part in conservation volunteering on local moorland with Wakefield Council.

We made sure all the pallets on site were donated to Camphill SEND College and local woodwork groups, we also donated to Timber Recycling Group which totalled to around 24 tonnes.
