The team at the CCOS St Albans project handing over more timber to be recycled

How we recycle timber on the CCOS St Albans project

News |

We've teamed up with St Albans Wood Recycling company, a local social enterprise, who collect all our waste timber from the CCOS South site and recycle it.

The organisation are then able to use the wood to make furniture for the public for them to purchase and the profits are put back into the local community for everyone to benefit.

So far the CCOS South team has recycled 13 tonnes of timber with zero sent to landfill (amount as of March 2021.)

It's all part of our Responsible Business strategy

St Albans Wood Recycling is linked to the Community Wood Recycling organisation, which Morgan Sindall Construction work with on a national basis, by connecting with local companies near to our sites which are part of the national Community Wood Recycling network.

After working in partnership with the organisation since 2010, as a national business we have have achieved the following:

  • Just under 3,000 tonnes of waste diverted from landfill
  • 36 jobs created
  • 110 people trained
  • 1,492 tonnes of C02 saved
