About the project

The redevelopment of the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre (CPNSC) will deliver world‑class sports facilities, ambitious decarbonisation plans and the careful conservation of a nationally significant Grade II* listed landmark. Located at the meeting point of five London boroughs; Bromley, Croydon, Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark, the CPNSC sits within Crystal Palace Park, one of London’s most important historic landscapes.

In May 2025, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, appointed Morgan Sindall Construction to transform the iconic Crystal Palace National Sports Centre with the ambition of securing its long‑term future and re‑establishing it as a leading venue for athletics and community sport.

Morgan Sindall Construction are working to deliver the project in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team including Faulkner Brown, who are leading on the leisure refurbishment, sports masterplan specialists WOO Architects – part of the creatives team behind both the London and Paris Olympics, Max Fordham for decarbonisation and sustainability, and Alan Baxter Associates, whose focus is on conserving the site's impressive structural heritage.

A pre-construction phase is now underway, which includes detailed applications for planning and listed building consent before major works are planned to commence in late 2026.

You can find out more about our appointment to the project in this press release.

Working in the local community

The redevelopment of CPNSC has a strong focus on creating lasting benefits for local communities. Morgan Sindall has developed a comprehensive Social Value plan which sets out how the project will deliver positive, measurable benefits beyond the physical refurbishment, ensuring that the investment creates wider economic, social and environmental value for the local community. This work has already commenced and will continue throughout the construction period. Initiatives include a new Knowledge Quad, which will open on site in 2026; targeted investment through the ‘Just Transition Fund’; and a wide range of employment, training and skills opportunities. These include paid work experience and apprenticeships, accredited training courses and pathways tolong-term employment. The team is also working closely with schools across the five boroughs through careers events and engagement sessions.

Making a positive difference in the communities we work in is a vital part of our responsible business plan. Our Community Investment Group supports our project teams in the delivery of local community engagement projects- a central part of a successful project. Regular bi-weekly drop-in sessions will be held at the Knowledge Hub providing opportunities for local residents to ask questions and find out more about the project.
