Creation Mill C.I.C
In May 2025, the project team were delighted to donate £4000 to Creation Mill C.I.C - a Community Interest Company with the aim of shouting about all things textiles, from fibre creation to recycling textile waste, all happening in the South of Scotland.
Creation Mill aim to encourage the future generation to get involved in the industry in and around Langholm, pledging to provide accessible workshops, short courses and training sessions in textiles. They provide these resources by working in partnership with local schools, colleges and the job centre.
On top of this, sustainability is considered every step of the way. Creation Mill have opened a small scrap store in their office, stocking salvaged fabric and haberdashery which were heading to landfill. They source fabrics and materials for all of the workshops and classes from their scrap store - even designing workshops around utilising scraps and teaching zero waste techniques.
I am writing to personally thank Morgan Sindall Construction for their generous donation of £4,000 to buy an industrial overlocker for our education room and a semi industrial carder to help us with local wool processing. Your donation will make a real difference to young people in Langholm and we really do appreciate the support. - Emma Duncan, Creative Director and Founder of Creation Mill CIC
