HERE'S THE LATEST NEWS FROM THE TEAM

Site Activities

The long summer days have arrived here at Houghton Regis Leisure and Community Centre making it the perfect time to start the solar panel installation. The vapour control layer has progressed around the roof perimeter as the brickwork façade now slowly reaches to full height. Blockwork internally is now 85% complete allowing the fire stopping contractor to continue sealing the heads of the walls. Our mechanical and electrical contractor is progressing well throughout the building with rainwater pipes, domestic pipe work, electrical containment and air conditioning systems. New contractor alert: North Cheshire (curtain walling system), JB carpentry (substation roof) and Maple Sunscreen (Trespa Cladding system around the entrance of the building) have all now joined us onsite.

Community Engagement

Our Social Value Manager has arranged for 5 students to attend site to gain a week long experience working in the construction industry. They will spend time with the various disciplines gaining valuable knowledge and understanding of the various roles. Mohan Rayat from Barnfield College attended site in early June and thoroughly enjoyed his experience. In the coming weeks Charlie Mulholland will also be joining us and hopefully we can replicate the same experience.

Upcoming

Now that the roofs are sealed our focus will be on the brickwork façade, curtain walling system and the Trespa cladding on the externals to help close the building up. Internally the blockwork will continue to progress, our mechanical and electrical contractor will continue throughout the building. Fireshield will continue driving the fire stopping and acoustic wall details releasing areas for our new contractor ECL, who will commence with the dry lining. JB Carpentry will move into the building when the substation roof is complete and will start the temporary door lining in preparation for the render and plastered walls. We are also planning the cycle / footpath works across the Kingsland Campus to the new Houstone School, which are scheduled for the summer holidays.
