APPRENTICESHIPS & JOB OPPORTUNITIES

πŸ‘· Created 430 new vacancies on the project for people who were previously unemployed or were employed specifically for the Manor Road project.

πŸŽ“ 7 graduates working on the project.

πŸ‘· 513 operatives/employees working on the Manor Road project in February, of which 41 were from the borough of Newham, this equates to 8%.

πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ 38 apprentices appointed by Morgan Sindall Construction and our subcontractors.

πŸ“š Provided 34 students with work experience placement - 18 placed directly with Morgan Sindall Construction and the remaining 16 with our subcontractors.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“ Welcomed our third T-Level student from the London Design Engineering UTC on the Manor Road project, on a 45-day industrial placement with the Site Management team.

πŸ—οΈ Our MEP subcontractor offered two LDEUTC T-Level students a 45-day industrial placement to work on the Manor Road project.

🏫 To date, we have engaged with 2544 students and supported 44 school/college events in the borough. We have invested 2495 staff hours in school/college engagement events.

βœ… 15 Newham Residents completed a Level 1, 2, 3 accreditation in February.

βœ… 15 employees/operatives have completed an NVQ Level 3 or above.

πŸ“– 214 operatives from our supply chain has completed a short course.

πŸ’— Invested 160 staff hours in the community.

πŸ’Έ Donated Β£1334 towards local community projects.

πŸ’Έ Spent Β£6,620 on Social Enterprise businesses.

🌟 Scored full marks (45/45) on our recent CCS inspection for the third consecutive time.

A SNAPSHOT OF THE WIDER COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Using our new Knowledge Quad on the Manor Road site, we partnered up with Build Skill Plus to deliver an accredited construction course in February. 15 unemployed Newham residents took part in the two-week course where they obtained a CSCS card.
  • At the start of the month, our Social Value team met with Inspire EBP to discuss the upcoming careers day event at Brampton Manor Academy and submitted slides.
  • In February, we attended Newham’s Apprenticeship Fair held at the Stratford Town Hall. We engaged with over 20 people in the morning, talking about careers in construction and opportunities with Morgan Sindall.
  • The Manor Road team visited London Design Engineering UTC on Monday 19th February to receive presentations from students that attended the Hazard activity in January, to present their findings. All presentations were fantastic and three students have been selected for work experience with the Manor Road team in July.
  • In February, we met with the University of East London to discuss further collaboration; UEL would like Morgan Sindall to visit the University to deliver an employer insight talk to students studying construction management.
  • We partnered up with Sisk Construction to deliver a careers day event at Brampton Manor Academy, organised by Inspire EBP. We engaged with 90 students in the all-day event, talking about the various pathways into construction and about the Morgan Sindall business.
