Project update - March 2024

News |

Here's the latest update from the team:

Site Activities

We have been very busy over the past few weeks working in the nursery car park, preparing and installing the temporary classrooms. The cabins were individually transported on flat bed trailers, and then lifted into the nursery car park by our crane during the half term break.

FUN FACT - The 300T crane lifting these classrooms in features an arm capable of extending up to 80m!

Construction of the new access road to our temporary site welfare and offices is now underway. A number of delivery vehicles will start to pass through here to deliver the materials and plant we require for us to progress further in the project.

These deliveries will be managed by our gate person, with deliveries planned and booked in advance to limit disruption in the local area. If you have any queries, please get in touch via the contact form on the Pilgrims' Way project microsite.

Upcoming work

The works to the temporary classrooms are complete, and the pupils now have full use of the building allowing us to take possession of the old classrooms for demolition to make way for the new building. The classrooms directly adjacent to our neighbours have had opaque film fitted, meaning light can enter but privacy of neighbours is maintained.

Our new site offices have been placed in their final position in the public space area shown in the CGI to the left. Works to the access road and the solid hoarding are nearing completion. The public space will remain open for the duration of the project. Our MSC gate person will be positioned at the entrance to site with access to live video monitoring of the main access road to ensure construction traffic is managed.

Demolition of the first existing block will commence with a soft strip of the internals before a machine starts to take apart the building. Noise levels will be monitored but please let us know if you have any queries during this work.
