King's Trust Site Visit

The team at Southampton Outdoor Sports Centre welcomed a group of young people on the current King's Trust programme at Itchen 6th Form College to site this week. They got to see first hand the major development we are delivering for Southampton City Council

Danny gave an overview of the project touching on the different buildings and areas they saw on their walk round including the new ski slopes and lodge, new family zone with its pump track and children's play area, new athletics pavilion and grandstand and the enormous new community hub at the centre of it all.

Susan gave them an overview of opportunities within construction and it was good to see they had prepared a piece thinking about the range of roles they might encounter before coming along.

We then walked the site guided by Harry where they were able to ask questions as we saw the different sections taking in landscaping, groundworks, new build, internal and external trades bringing it all to life for them.

By the end of the afternoon, many realised that construction management offers vast opportunities beyond hands-on trades and asked some great questions.

We even managed to donate some scaffold boards for a couple of them to finish their outside furniture project ready for the summer sunshine 🌞.
