Another period of positive progress has seen Morgan Sindall Construction, which has offices and sites across the UK, contribute to half year results released today (4 August 2021) by parent company Morgan Sindall Group plc, the construction and regeneration group.

Morgan Sindall Group statement: Morgan Sindall Group has delivered a record set of results for the first half of 2021, with trading substantially ahead of ‘pre-pandemic’ 2019 levels. Compared to 2019, revenue was up 10% to £1,559m (HY 2019: £1,421m) with adjusted operating profit of £54.8m (HY 2019: £37.5m), up 46%. The Group’s balance sheet has also further strengthened, with net cash of £337 million and average daily net cash for the half of £294 million. With three profit upgrades in the first half of the year and a high quality order book with a secured workload of £8.3bn, level with year-end, the Group is well-positioned for continued future growth.

Pat Boyle, managing director for Morgan Sindall Construction, said: “I am very pleased with our first half performance and the positive momentum we are continuing to build, which is testament to the exceptional work being delivered by our teams across the UK.

We have a strong focus on sustainability, with our customers, colleagues and supply chain partners engaging positively with our Decarbonising Communities strategy. Modern methods of construction and digital technologies are also playing their part in our drive towards Net Zero."

In Scotland, Morgan Sindall Construction started in site with a £16 million project to build a joint primary school campus and early years facility in Prestwick, part of the hub South West and South Ayrshire Council development of two new education campuses for primary, secondary and Early Years teaching, worth a combined £64 million.

In the North, the team handed over The Spine, the flagship building in Liverpool’s new Paddington Village. The 30-acre site is being developed by Liverpool City Council in three phases and is a centrepiece of KQ Liverpool – the city’s world-leading innovation district, incorporating new science, technology, education and health space. Morgan Sindall Construction’s healthcare expertise has also been used to good effect delivering essential improvement throughout the pandemic to key facilities within the Doncaster Royal Infirmary, a large acute hospital with over 800 beds. Our team was also appointed to deliver an enabling works package and Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) and Cycle Hub as part of the total redevelopment of the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) site in Crumpsall. NMGH is one of the new hospitals to receive funding through the Government’s Health Infrastructure Plan, backed by an initial £3.7 billion to deliver 40 new hospitals across the country by 2030.
