Project update - August 2023

News |

HERE'S THE LATEST UPDATE

Site activities:

In the last month we have reached a major project milestone with the concrete structures to both the main and learner pools being completed. Water testing of the learner pool is now under way and the testing of the main pool is due to commence shortly.

We also saw the pouring of the first sections of our ground floor slab, and these are now 50% complete. We will now concentrate our works to the balance tanks and the basement pump pit. Works to install a perimeter haul road are ongoing, this will be used by both construction and delivery vehicles to ensure safe access around the building. The haul road will remain in place and form part of the build up to the hard landscaping upon completion.

Demolition works to the former school buildings are progressing.

Community Engagement

School will visit site to view progress. We are also actively looking for enthusiastic individuals who are looking to find out more about construction who would like to carry out work experience on site. For more information, please contact Bipin Mepani.

To celebrate National Inclusion Week 2023 (25th September to 1st October) we will be hosting a drop in coffee morning on site, please look out for further details in next month's newsletter.

Upcoming Work

The works in the next month will see the commencement of the installation of the structural steel frame. We do expect the steel erection to cause a little bit more noise than the activities that have been carried out on site so far, and we apologise for any disruption in advance. The steel erection is due to take 16 weeks to complete.

We will also commence the backfilling of our temporary infiltration basin. The basin was a part of our site dewatering strategy and will now no longer be required. In the next period we will also bring a concrete crusher on to site, this will process the demolition arisings so that they can all be re-used on site.
