Abergavenny Site Team participate in a Community Garden Volunteer Morning

News

The Abergavenny Site Team participate in a Community Garden Volunteer Morning in Abergavenny supporting Friends of Bailey Park.

For National Volunteer week, the Morgan Sindal Site Team at Abergavenny working on the Ysgol 3-19 Brenin Harri’r VIII / King Henry VIII 3-19 School got involved to show their support to the local community.

Friends of Bailey Park are a group of volunteers ensuring Bailey Park is well maintained. This year, they have entered into Wales and Britain in Bloom and have become finalists so are currently ensuring all flowers beds are well looked after. The Friends of Bailey Park warmly welcomed the Team to help out with weeding, planting and general tidying up of a small area of the park.

There was a particular area of the park that had some nasty weeds, the team helped provide support in removing the weeds so creeping plants can be installed over a rockery area to create another beautiful feature in the park.

The Morgan Sindall team would like to thank Friends of Bailey Park for the opportunity to support them in their great work and look forward to seeing the positive recognition of the beautiful Bailey Park and environmentally friendly practices undertaken in the Wales and Britain in Bloom Competition.

Steve Langford, Morgan Sindall Project Director for Abergavenny 3-19 Through School:

Being invited to be part of today is exactly what we are about. We have been given the opportunity by Monmouthshire County Council to build the prestigious King Henry VIII 3-19 Through School and so the site team want to play their part in giving back to the community. This is our second project this year having recently planted 2000 trees in Abergavenny community parks.”

Georgie Davies, Morgan Sindall Social Value Advisor:

We all really enjoyed our time supporting the Friends of Bailey Park this morning. Morgan Sindall's purpose is to create inspiring places that enhance the communities in which we all live, learn, work, play, care and protect and it's great to see everyone come together for a couple of hours which makes a huge difference for community groups like this one which is solely run by volunteers. We are very much looking forward to supporting the group again in the future.”

Sarah Latheron from Friends of Bailey Park:

The team from Morgan Sindall did an amazing job, making a huge difference to the rock garden, wildflower area, and offering invaluable help to the Friends of Bailey Park, so thank you.”
